Payment process update 17 October 2025
We have reviewed all applications that were received before the fund closed on 15 September, two weeks later than originally planned.
We are now working through some final details with the Scottish Government in preparation for ministerial sign off, which we expect to take place shortly after the current parliamentary recess.
Currently, we expect grant payments to be released to successful applicants from the end of November, and will issue updates if the position changes.
In the meantime, we’d like to thank all applicants for your patience.
The Islands Business Resilience Fund is being delivered by Highlands and Islands Enterprise on behalf of Scottish Government (SG). The fund will help improve business resilience following several years of ferry disruption to a number of west coast island communities.
The purpose of the fund is to support the resilience of SME organisations (businesses and social enterprises) operating in the visitor economy and perishable goods sector across targeted islands which have had prolonged disruption to their ferry services from mainland Scotland.
The award is a non-repayable revenue grant.
SME organisations (businesses and social enterprises) operating in the visitor economy and perishable goods sector across one or more of the following islands are eligible to apply:

Awards will be based on demand and the size of organisations that apply for support. However, we expect awards to range between approximately £3,000 and £35,000.
The application process opened on 2 July 2025 at 12 noon and closed on 15 September 2025 at 12 noon. Any applications received after this date will not be considered.
We expect decisions to be made at the earliest opportunity after the closing date. We expect to make payments by 31 October 2025.

There is NO appeals process. We are unable to consider a complaint purely relating to dissatisfaction as to the outcome of a funding decision.
